My Legacy of Faith

How much do you know

about your grandparents' lives?

Do you wish you knew more?

How much will your grandchildren know about your life?

Filled with questions about specific topics and each decade of your life, this book combines the best of journaling and scrapbooking. Here you can record and highlight more than dates, locations, and world events. There are also pages for prayers and Scripture that will preserve a legacy of Christian faith for generations to come, "that a people yet to be created may praise the LORD." Psalm 102:18

Preface

If you've ever wished you could talk to your grandparents one more time, here's your chance to give generations yet to come, things you want them to know and remember.

This book is designed to be completed either all at once or a little at a time. You could review and update it on your birthday every year. You might prefer to look at it every New Year's Day. Or, you can slip in little notes through the year, then organize it later. Whatever works for you.

This is your book.

If you glance through the contents page, you will find sections to log in information about specific topics in addition to what your life was like during each decade. It is a place your children and grandchildren, and their children and grandchildren can come to learn about your life, from your struggles and successes, to your prayers and answers to those prayers. In this book, you can leave the Scripture and words of wisdom that were valuable in your life, so your descendants can treasure them in their hearts and pass them on to their children.

I encourage you to leave this book out in plain sight and talk with your family about things you've added. Consider giving one to each child/grandchild at their high school graduation, wedding, or on their twenty-first birthday. You might start a new family tradition of reading from your individual Legacy of Faith books at a family gathering-Thanksgiving, for instance.

Only give heed to yourself and keep your soul diligently, so that you do not forget the things which your eyes have seen and they do not depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your sons and your grandsons.

Deuteronomy 4:9 NASB

Blessings,

Lisa

Is this a scrapbook?

Partly a scrapbook, but mostly a guided journal. Each section has pages with questions, and blank pages to insert pictures and other keepsakes.

Who will enjoy this book?

Because it will be completed by people they know, I believe all ages will enjoy having details about their ancestors' hopes, dreams, prayers, and the Scripture that they held dear.

Is it meant to be a genealogy record of dates and facts?

Yes, and no. This book does include places for basic information about world events and the family tree, but also sections such as "things I wish I had known, things I want you to know" and "my prayer for you."

Is it just for grandparents?

Grandparents will likely be thankful to be able to preserve these thoughts and information for their grandchildren, but wouldn't it be a great gift for a high school graduate or newlyweds? They can log in information each year and review it with their family, perhaps at Thanksgiving or Christmas.

My Legacy of Faith sounds like a nice birth announcement gift for expecting parents to gift to their parents.

Absolutely! The expecting parents could ask their parents to work on it and then present it to their child at their high school or college graduation or on a particular birthdate. It would also be a great book to take to someone in a senior living or homebound situation. The visitor could ask questions and write the answers in the book a little at a time during each visit.

Could you complete one for someone who is deceased?

That's a wonderful idea. Using information that is available and memories of people who knew them, they could complete much of the information and start a collection of Legacy books for each family member.

In this digital age, what about online information?

There are pages to write website addresses. This will be particularly helpful for military records, genealogy background, and family websites.

Is it available in ebook?

No. Hardbound only. This is a keepsake book to be treasured and passed down for generations.
