 Ames Awards

Kerysso Press believes the world needs courageous, strong, and steadfast Christians. Our mission to encourage, edify, and educate from a biblical perspective resounds through the books we publish. We also want to acknowledge and lift up books from other publishing houses that carry that same mission.

The Ames Award is taken from the Hebrew wordאָמַץ (pronounced a-mates') meaning courageous, strong, and steadfast. The Ames Award acknowledges excellent books that encourage living a courageous and obedient Christian life, especially under challenging circumstances. Ames is used four times in Joshua 1 before the people went in to take the promised land. It is the same word describing Ruth's determination to go with Naomi.

Kerysso Press will award certificates and medallions to finalists and winners in four groups--fiction, nonfiction, devotionals, and children's book. Judges will score each entry on elements including the quality of; cover, formatting, and content.

2024 Requirements

Must have been published (traditional, hybrid, or self-published) between June 1, 2022 - December 31, 2023.

Not published through Kerysso Press.

Must be in print. No ebooks will be accepted.

The Ames Award is for books with strong elements of courageous faith, inspiring readers to grow in their Christian walk. Themes of overcoming adversity, or leaving behind a sinful past are welcome, but must not include content that would be considered unpublishable by the Christian Booksellers Association. Finalists will be named two weeks prior to the Tennessee Valley Literary Festival, Athens AL.

One copy of each book will be on display at the festival, along with the list of finalists, and will be donated to the library after the festival.

The winners will be announced during the festival. If you do not attend the festival, your certificate will be mailed to you. PNG medallions will be emailed to the author or publisher after the festival.

Kerysso Press will also publicize the finalists and winners on social media.

No judging sheets will be returned to the author or publisher. However, if the judge chooses, they might send a short note to be delivered at the award ceremony.

This 2024 entry form must be completed and received along with a $40.00 entry fee and two copies of the book before May 15, 2024.

A portion of this fee will go to purchase Bibles around the world.
